Condenser
Small Diaphragm, Cardioid Pattern. I've been told it sounds nice on Horns. Looking forward to actually trying it out, hopefully soon.
(2) CAD M177
Large Diaphragm, Cardioid Patterns. Transient Response is almost ribbon like, but without the usual top end roll off, which can be a great thing for drum overheads.
(2) Gefell MV692
Small Diaphragm, Cardioid and Omni Patterns. Nice detailed microphones with a rich midrange. These sound great on just about everything.
(2) Oktava MK-319
Large Diaphragm, Cardioid Pattern. The Russian Bear.
(1) Oktava MK-219
Large Diaphragm, Cardioid Pattern. My first choice for a bright electric guitar.
(2) Oktava MK-12
Small Diaphragm, Cardioid Pattern. Nice detailed microphones.
(2) Naiant MSH-1X
Nice Cheap Omnis, great for picking up room sound.
(2) Naiant XM
Nice Cheap Omnis, great for picking up room sound.
Cardioid Pattern. First choice for acoustic guitar.
(1) Blue Kickball
Kick Drum Mic.
Ribbon
(2) Shinybox 23
Like most ribbons, these have a somewhat limited hi-end and a figure 8 pattern. Uses: Drum OH, Guitar Cabinet, Strings, Acoustic Guitar
(1) Beyer M260
Like most ribbons, has a somewhat limited hi-end. Unlike most ribbons, it has a built in low end roll off at 80hz, which helps to elminate the proximity effect. Its hypercardioid pattern can also be quite useful when tracking multiple instruments together. Uses: Drum OH, Snare, Guitar Cabinet, Strings, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals
(1) N-Sonic NS-1
Like most ribbons, these have a somewhat limited hi-end and a figure 8 pattern. Uses: Drum OH, Guitar Cabinet, Strings, Acoustic Guitar
(1) N-Sonic NS-2
Like most ribbons, these have a somewhat limited hi-end and a figure 8 pattern. Uses: Drum OH, Guitar Cabinet, Strings, Acoustic Guitar
Tube
Bright multipattern tube mic, good for vocals, acoustic guitar, drums.
Dynamic
(2) AKGD190E
Fairly bright for a dynamic mic, these mics have a slight present peak, somewhat similar to an SM57. Uses: Drums, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Cabinet
(1) Beyer TGX50
Cardioid Pattern. This mic is great for emphasizing low end in the usual places (Kick Drum, Bass Cabinets) and in some unusual places (Guitar Cabinets, Strings) as well. Go to mic for electric bass.
Great all-purpose dynamic instrument mic. Uses: Toms, Guiter Cabinets, Horns
These are basically RE10s with a built in windscreen / pop filter, which make them suitable for vocals as well.
Another Electrovoice Dynamic. Cool on Vocals and electric guitars.
A mic this ugly had better sound good. It does. Hypercardioid Pattern. Extended range for a dynamic mic. Hypercardiod pattern makes it very useful on snare drum. Uses: Snare Drum, Guitar Cabinet, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals
Omni Pattern. Extended range for a dynamic mic. A nice alternative to usually too bright condensor mics on lots of things, particularly Drum OHs.
(1) Sennheiser e609
Hypercardioid Dynamic, meant to be hung over a guitar cabinet. Also useful as a snare mic.
(1) Sennheiser MD408
Cardioid Pattern. Best guitar cabinet mic ever. In the same family as the Sennheiser 409.
(2) Shure SM57
Dynamic mic with a presence peak. It rarely sounds bad.
(1) Shure SM7b
Not so secret weapon, sounds amazing on everything. Seriously.
